MEET JENNIFER MARTIN

DSC_1067.jpeg

Jennifer Van Noordt‑Martin is an Academic Therapist trained at the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center in the Sounds in Syllables (SIS) Multisensory Language Therapy approach. She runs a private practice that serves learners of all ages, from those with mild learning challenges to those with more significant needs.

While many people think of literacy as simply the ability to read, true literacy includes reading, writing, speaking, and listening in ways that enable effective communication and a deeper understanding of the world around us. Jennifer believes that literacy is the key to many of life’s greatest gifts and an inalienable right of all Americans.

Jennifer launched her career in head‑trauma rehabilitation, teaching children and adults to read after life‑altering injuries. That work led her into public-school special education programs in New Jersey, and she has spent more than 20 years teaching in schools across New Jersey and Virginia. Her experience spans general education classrooms, special education settings, adult learners, and private one-on-one instruction. Along the way, she has served as a dual‑certified lead teacher, mentor, and instructional coach, consistently helping students achieve measurable gains.

Jennifer is convinced that every child and adult can become a successful reader and writer when taught with fidelity, research‑based methods, and strategies matched to individual learning styles. She excels at diagnostic teaching, differentiation, and explicit instruction. Her daily lessons weave creative, multisensory techniques with evidence‑based practices, turning difficult concepts into memorable learning experiences.
